Spam prevention

Many malicious bots may attempt to register on your website by posing as real users. As a result, your website may be flooded with unwanted information posted by bots, and it will be distracting for real users. The Spam Prevention plugin does all the job for you by ensuring that bots are kept away from your classifieds site. With Spam Prevention plugin installed, you won’t have to spend valuable time moderating and filtering spam manually, the plugin will do it automatically by checking every user to ensure that he is not a bot.

How it works

The plugin uses the stopforumspam service to help detect spam on your classifieds website. Their database is comprised of all known spam bots and emails associated with them. Furthermore, it is always growing and new ones are added on a regular basis, meaning that you may rest assured that the plugin will guide your website from at least 99% of all unwanted registration attempts by bots. Stopforumspam does not store your users’ personal information and uses it only to check it against their records.

Frond End

Every user who registers on your website is checked by the plugin; in other words, a plugin sends a request to the spam service with user details and checks the user’s email, username and IP address against the records in the database. If the user details are found in the spam service database, the plugin will block the user and label him as a bot. The info of the blocked user will be added to the plugin manager blacklist in backend.

Back End

Since the plugin is provided by third party anti-spam prevention service, it requires no configuration in the backend and works on a plug-and-play basis. After installation, the plugin manager displays a table with users/bots who have been blocked by the plugin.

The table displays several rows consisting of a username, email and ip address, reason for blocking, and date of attempted registration.

In the unlikely event of a real user getting into spam database, the plugin manager allows you to unblock his account and activate him as a user on your website.
